Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal"

"A Modest Proposal" is a darkly funny essay by Jonathan Swift (also the author of "Gulliver's Travels") in which he proposes the Irish eat children as a way to solve the devastating hunger and poverty of the Irish people at the time. The full text is accompanied by photos I took of adorable children, presenting this gruesome idea in the form of a kitschy novelty book. Personally bound by hand in cloth-bound hardcover with a dust jacket, the edition was requested for the collection of the University of Pennsylvania Library and now resides there as a part of the Jonathan Swift collection in the rare books and manuscripts division.
